Privacy note
We collect only what we need to welcome people into the community, keep a login working, and respond to messages.
What we collect
When you use Join, Contact, or the PhD publication form, you may provide your name, email address, optional location/timezone, experience level, interests, paper title and abstract, optional PDF links, and free-text messages.
If you create a community account, we store your name, email, a password hash (or an identifier from GitHub/Google if you use those), and session cookies so you stay signed in. Members board posts include your display name.
How we use it
- To respond to interest in joining community activities
- To follow up on questions, ideas, or collaboration notes
- To plan inclusive events across timezones when relevant
- To keep your login and members board working on this site
- To review papers offered for the lab working-paper series
We do not sell personal information. We do not use these forms as a commercial sales funnel.
Storage
Community accounts, join notes, contact messages, board posts, and paper-publication offers are stored in a local PostgreSQL database used by this site. Session cookies are httpOnly and expire after 30 days. Optional GitHub or Google sign-in only runs if those keys are configured on the server.
If a third-party form provider is configured instead of the local forms, submissions follow that provider’s terms in addition to this note.
